Description

For women who have experienced fistula, FSTREATLOC reports where the woman sought treatment for this condition.

Comparability

Along with universe differences and differences in question wording, FSTREATLOC differs across samples in the number of response categories. To maximize comparability, IPUMS-DHS uses composite coding, with "Did not seek treatment" having a first digit of "0," "Health facility" having a first digit of "1," and "Religion/tradition" having a first digit of "2." The second digit provides more detail in these larger categories, when this additional information is available.

Comparability - Standard DHS

FSTREATLOC is a country-specific variable, and it is included in any phase of the standard DHS questionnaire or any version of the standard fistula module.
