Description

For women who gave birth in the last 5 years and who received antenatal care during their most recent pregnancy, ANCCM2_01 indicates whether, in response to an open-ended question, they reported receiving care at a religious health center. This response category is country-specific to Cameroon.

Some samples in the "ANC" series include categories that can be consolidated into a single response. IPUMS-DHS uses supplemental programming to combine these responses in a standard variable while preserving the separate responses in country-specific variables.

ANCCM2_01 is combined with ANCCM1_01 (religious hospital) in ANCPRIVMIS_01 (all faith-based facilities) for the 2011 and 2018 Cameroon samples. IPUMS-DHS users interested in using ANCCM2_01 are encouraged to review ANCPRIVMIS_01 for a more comprehensive response category.

Comparability

ANCCM2_01 has no comparability problems.

Comparability - Standard DHS

An open-ended question on where antenatal care was sought is included in Phase V forward of the standard DHS questionnaire.

Although ANCCM2_01 is a country-specific response, this variable is combined with other responses in ANCPRIVMIS_01, a variable that encompasses all faith-based facilities as sources of antenatal care. IPUMS-DHS users are encouraged to review the Description tab of ANCCM2_01 or the Comparability tab of ANCPRIVMIS_01 for more information on the specific categories combined for Cameroon 2011 and 2018.
